Description

We are an award-winning national law firm that specialises in property development including mixed-use, strata and community titles. Our Queensland development consulting team is experiencing fantasic growth on the back on winning some large projects throughout South-East Queensland.

We are now looking for a senior property development lawyer to join our team. You will work alongside Queensland partners Gary Bugden OAM and Kevin Pai (some of Queensland’s leading experts in this area of property law). Gary was head of property for Mallesons in NSW and QLD and sat on their national board.

We work with our developer clients on all aspects of their project’s life cycle, from site acquisition, title and management structuring, preparing the master sales contract and supporting documents such as by-laws, community management statements and then assisting them with project-conveyancing. We also do general advice work for owners, owners corporations, strata managers and developers.

The role is full time and based in Brisbane, from our offices at 200 Mary Street. Our firm has a flexible approach to working, so you will be welcome to split your time between the office and home to suit your needs.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will act predominately for developer clients and bodies corporate throughout Queensland and potentially other jurisdictions, on property-related matters such as title, subdivision and management structuring and site acquisition and site due diligence and other general commercial, residential and mixed-use property matters. You will be involved in running significant property-related matters including drafting sales contracts, by-laws and disclosure statements, building management statements, project managing off-the-plan conveyancing work (using our digital exchange platform “OPEX”), preparing general advices in the strata area and day to day management of client files.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 2-5+ years PAE
  • Property development experience
  • Developer conveyancing experience
  • General advice work experience
  • Familiarity with QLD’s property, strata and community title laws
  • Strong academic achievements
  • The ability to work independently and autonomously and a strong work ethic
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment

In addition to this, we are looking for a resilient self-starter. Someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing an outstanding service to their clients.

Another system we have built is called LevyCollect which is a debtor management system that we use to streamline to process of collecting outstanding strata levies.

Package

Depending on the candidate’s experience, we would be prepared to offer anywhere from $100,000 to $140,000+ plus 10% super. Fee earners are also offered an incentive in accordance with our Staff Incentive Program which rewards staff for performance. The incentive is calculated based on the achievement of billing targets, which are some of the lowest targets in the legal industry, ensuring we assist you with a good work/life balance.
