Description

We are an award-winning national law firm that specialises in property law, property development and strata and community titles. As the leading legal practice in this area in Victoria, our Melbourne office is looking to recruit a junior lawyer to join our team, ideally someone at Solicitor level, looking to move towards Associate soon. You will have at least 1 years PAE, but we welcome more experienced lawyers to apply for the role.

You will join a busy, high performing and collaborative team and will work with industry leading property developers, property investors and strata stakeholders. You will be joining a national law firm with its own innovative technology and partners who are true global leaders in their field.

The role is full time and based in our Melbourne office at 500 Collins Street. Our firm has a flexible “family-first” approach to working, so after your probationary period, you may want to move towards a hybrid way of working after discussing this with your manager.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will act on property-related commercial disputes and litigation, and general advisory work, across a range of issues such as development, rules, leasing and general property, construction and contractual disputes, insurance and debt collection. Specifically, your key matters will be focused on strata and community title matters in Victoria. You will be involved in running significant matters including drafting correspondence, preparing advices, day to day management of files, attending hearings, briefing and liaising with counsel, preparing witness and expert evidence and assisting with the preparation of final and interlocutory hearings.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 1-3+ years PAE
  • Property law experience
  • Strata and communities experience (preferable)
  • Commercial and/or property litigation experience (commensurate with PAE)
  • Familiarity with VCAT, Magistrates Court / Supreme Court litigation (commensurate with PAE)
  • Strong academic achievements
  • The ability to work independently and autonomously and a strong work ethic
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment

Package

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the right candidate. Along with a competitive base salary, our fee earners are also offered an incentive based on billable targets in accordance with our Staff Incentive Program. We have some of the most conservative, and achievable billing targets in the industry as we recognise the importance of striking a balance between our employees work and life commitments.
